LUCKY follows the spiritual journey of a 90-year-old atheist and the quirky characters that inhabit his off the map desert town. Having out lived and out smoked all of his contemporaries, the fiercely independent Lucky finds himself at the precipice of life, thrust into a journey of self exploration, leading towards that which is so often unattainable: enlightenment. Acclaimed character actor John Carroll Lynch's directorial debut, "Lucky", is at once a love letter to the life and career of Harry Dean Stanton as well as a meditation on mortality, loneliness, spirituality, and human connection.

I liked it. There was weirdness to balance the sentimentality, and the slow pace was right for the tale of a man processing the fact of his own mortality. Harry Dean Stanton’s cheekbones and eyes deserve their own star billing. Stanton is very deserving of this cinematic love letter.

I didn't think I would like the film at the start, boy was I wrong. Amazing acting, particularly for a 90-year-old.

Rich, spare, extremely well-done screenplay.

The film avoided predictable scenarios and I loved it.

Wonderful characters, great story, terrific acting. I especially liked the side characters. The stories they told were so insightful. A little of the editing was a bit slow.

I loved this film, one essence of which is that life precedes death and death precedes life. All of the characters were realistic and portray life as it exists.

The pacing of this movie was so perfect for its story - one that was at once about the most ordinary bits of everyday life AND just how extraordinary our observations about that life can be - especially friends who care about one another. Great acting. So many tiny details contributed so much.
