This was a very compelling portrayal of a tragedy of everyday life, and it's impact on the dysfunctional relationship between the two sharply flawed lead characters - the mother and son. A very moving piece I would recommend to everyone.

The character development (or destruction) was painfully well portrayed. The film's editing drove me crazy at the start, but it seemed to shift and soften with Barbu's and his mother's final acceptance of responsibility for the child's death.

Profoundly sad and realistic character study of a pathetic woman. Unforgettable, but I couldn't recommend this to anyone due to grief producing emotions. This film will leave me with a depressing "hangover" for a week. Bravo!

Here's why this movie works: there was a passage of time in the middle where I sort of forgot the gravity of the crime committed by the son. And why parts didn't: could have been shorter, we could have spent less time in this amoral universe and still have been affected by the story.
