How courageous of Dustin Hoffman to tackle this material for his directorial debut. And like all great movies, it introduced me to a new level of enjoyment of something I know little of - opera. Such a meaningful film for an aging viewer we don't lose everything, it just feels that way sometimes.

Lovely film. Wonderful balance of warmth, comaraderie, humor, sense of aging. Msic is blended beautifully ino the script. Loved the authenticity--actual performers playing the roles. The blending of children and aged artists a nice detail.
