With a new iPhone, an apartment near the Grove, and a comfortable bank account left to her by her beloved late husband, Marnie Minervini has happily relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be near her daughter Lori, a successful (but still single) screenwriter, and smother her with motherly love. But when the dozens of texts, unexpected visits, and conversations dominated by unsolicited advice force Lori to draw strict personal boundaries, Marnie finds ways to channel her eternal optimism and forceful generosity to change the lives of others – as well as her own – and find a new purpose in life.

So I saw this movie and Susan Sarandon was great though it was not quite as deep as I could like and some of the side plots were a little weak but you know how I like her and it was nothing like me and you but you should see it anyway and give me a call. A nice change to see a thoroughly entertaining and funny film--great way to start the day: with laughter. Note: there were many other comments expressing appreciation for this change of pace in the Cinema Club. Examples: 'Nice to have an upbeat movie!' 'Enjoyed. A little less serious: finally!' 'Happy not to see a depressing movie this time.' On the other hand: club members who prefer more weighty films expressed their displeasure at the Club's choice of what they considered a light movie: see negative comments below.
